Dark Flight
Carved from African Blackwood: This pendant is crafted from African Blackwood, one of the most prized and luxurious woods in the world. While African Blackwood isn’t native to the Finnish forests that usually inspire my work, I was fortunate to acquire a small piece. Its deep, natural black hue and fine grain make it the perfect choice for this feather pendant.
Size: This feather measures approximately 1.5 x 5 cm (1/2” x2”), making it an graceful yet striking accessory.
Finish: The feather is finished with pure Tung oil, enhancing the natural black richness of the wood while leaving a smooth, matte surface. Tung oil is non-toxic, and no stains or dyes were used—the color is entirely the wood’s own.
Necklace: The pendant is paired with a black stainless steel chain which measures 56 cm (22”) and features a secure lobster clasp closure, complementing the pendant’s dark, mysterious aesthetic.
